Finally crossed the border of Oregon into California. Thank God, I can finally pump my own gas. Those 2 backasswards states of NJ and OR where they only have full service gas stations. Every time I stopped I got out and was met by a gas station attendant (I am not sure if that is politically correct term, maybe pump jockey) who aided me in sliding my credit card into the reader on the pump.
I continued on towards Redwoods National park, making a couple photo stops along the way
Here is a Map of the Park followed by a detailed PDF

I stopped at High Bluff Overlook and continued onto Newton B Drury pkwy. Hit Cal-Barrel Rd where you can go east and double back for scenery. It is a dirt road that I probably should not have been on, but hell it was a rental car!
I drove to Gold Bluffs Beach and Fern Canyon on the Pacific coast. The Bluffs would have actually been a great camping spot, but it was too early to forfeit the rest of the day. Here are some shots of fern Canyon. It is a pain to get there, but worth the detour.
I headed back to the main part of the park and stopped at Lady Bird Johnson Grove. Nothing special but an easy 2 mile hike.
Continuing on south to Eureka California, I found the Lost Coast Brewery where I ran into a couple guys who sell rental cars for Enterprise to end consumers. I had to laugh, “Who would ever buy a rental car? People beat the crap out of those.” I proceeded to share a few of my own stories and that of friends. They were a bit shocked and said that I probably was not their target audience
A pretty quiet day. Can you tell that I wrote this blog a few weeks after traveling’? I can’t remember any of my good stories. I guess it is sort of phoning it in.
Well, par for the course I found another casino and slept in. I did not do on the gambling before I turned in and ended up even for the trip.
Until Tomorrow
Darren
